This site was located within Contract 5 (Kells to north of Kells) of the proposed M3 Clonee to north of Kells motorway and was identified during advance testing by David Bayley (Excavations 2004, No. 1205, 04E1054). Full resolution in October 2006 revealed an isolated fire-spot comprising a small patch of oxidised subsoil with some overlying fire debris, charcoal and ash. A number of surrounding hollows also contained small traces of this fire debris. It is likely that this feature represents a single episode of in situ burning.
