This site was located within Contract 3 (Navan bypass) of the proposed M3 Clonee to north of Kells motorway and was identified during advance testing by Neil Fairburn during May 2004 (Excavations 2004, No. 1157, 04E0581). Full resolution between July and August 2006 revealed a subrectangular trough (1.75m by c. 0.85m by 0.17m), filled with burnt-mound material (heat-shattered stone and charcoal), associated with six pits that were also filled with burnt-mound material. The majority of these features were contained by a curvilinear ditch. A drainage ditch with burnt-mound material in its fills was also revealed.
