This site was located within Contract 2 (Dunshaughlin to Navan) of the proposed M3 Clonee to north of Kells motorway and was identified during advance testing by Jonathan Dempsey in April 2004 (Excavations 2004, No. 1184, 04E0417). Full resolution of the site in November 2006 revealed a large scatter of sixteen pits (all under 0.5m diameter by 0.1–0.25m depth) and a corn-drying kiln concentrated around the edge of a ring-ditch that lies immediately outside the land-take. One artefact was recovered—a lignite bracelet fragment. These preliminary findings seem to indicate an early medieval date for the activity on site.
