This site was located within Contract 2 (Dunshaughlin to Navan) of the proposed M3 Clonee to north of Kells motorway and was identified during the geophysical survey (GSB Prospection, 2001) and tested by Steve Linnane in April 2004 (Excavations 2004, No. 1163, 04E0421). Full resolution took place between November 2005 and April 2006. A series of large post-holes and a number of pits were exposed, one of which was a cremation pit. A single sherd of Beaker pottery was recovered from the fill of one of the post-holes. The exact function of the post-holes and pits is unclear and they do not form any coherent pattern.
