This site was excavated between 21 and 28 June 2006. It was newly identified during centreline testing (A020/003) and was fully excavated in advance of the construction of the N5 Charlestown bypass.
The site consisted of an oval-shaped mound of burnt stone enveloped in natural peat and a second smaller deposit of burnt stone. It was located at 69m OD. The mound was roughly oval in plan, measuring 12m by 5.5m, and was 0.45m thick. It consisted of burnt stone in a matrix of peat with occasional inclusions of charcoal. The second smaller deposit consisted of a disturbed spread of burnt stone with maximum dimensions of 10m by 4m by 0.1m thick. Two stray cut timbers occurred in the north-east of the site but no further finds or features of archaeological significance were present.
