Pre-development testing was carried out on the site of a proposed housing development at Park, Co. Mayo, on 8 August 2006. The development site is located beside the GAA grounds to the north of Park village. A fulacht fiadh is located immediately east of the development. Testing comprised the excavation of eleven trenches on the development footprint. The topsoil had an average thickness of 0.25m. It generally overlay a thin layer of orange/brown sandy clay subsoil, which in turn overlay grey sandy clay. Rock outcrop was exposed close to the surface in the north-west part of the site. No archaeological material was uncovered.
