Excavation was undertaken on this site on 8–13 June 2006. It was newly identified during the centreline testing (A020/003) and was fully excavated in advance of the construction of the N5 Charlestown bypass. The site was located at the base of an east-facing slope of a low rise at an altitude of 108m OD. The base of the slope bordered a peat basin to the east and north. The irregular-shaped spread measured 7m north–south by 5m by 0.3–0.07m thick. The spread was a mix of peat and silty clay with inclusions of both burnt and unburnt stones and charcoal. A small shallow cut was identified under the spread. It measured 2.5m north–south by 2.1m by 0.25m deep. The cut had a sharp break of slope on the south-east and west sides, concave sides and a flat base. It was open to the north. The pit was filled with spread material, which may have slumped in to the feature.
