Excavation was undertaken on this site from 28 February to 7 March 2006. The site was newly identified during centreline testing (A020/003) and was fully excavated in advance of the construction of the N5 Charlestown bypass. The site was located on the north face of a gently sloping ridge at an altitude of 120m OD. The spread was situated in a very wet area, as a stream flowing north–south flooded the feature. The spread measured 9.24m north–south by 5.6m by 0.3m thick and consisted of fire-cracked stones in a charcoal-rich matrix. A small pit, 1m east–west by 0.74m by 0.15m deep, was uncovered under the western section of the mound. It may be a roasting pit. It had a single fill of fire-cracked stones in a charcoal-rich matrix. No other features of archaeological significance were identified on the site.
