Testing was carried out at Cogaula Clogher, Claremorris, Co. Mayo, on 3 August 2006 in advance of the construction of a single dwelling house, septic tank and percolation area. The proposed development lies within the archaeological constraint zone for a church and associated earthworks.
Testing consisted of three trenches excavated through the footprint of the proposed dwelling and associated percolation area. They recorded that bedrock was very close to the surface and that, were there archaeological deposits or features, they would be clearly discernible. None were noted.
