Excavation was undertaken on this site on 1–7 June 2006. The site was newly identified during centreline testing (A020/003) and was fully excavated in advance of the construction of the N5 Charlestown bypass. It consisted of two small areas of burning located at an altitude of 108m OD, 65m east and 15m north of A020/024. The first spread measured 3m east–west by 1.5m by 0.04–0.1m thick. It was rectangular in plan and was a loose black peaty clay with occasional inclusions of burnt stone. The second spread was located 1.6m to the north and measured 1.9m north–south by 1.7m by 0.05–0.1m thick. It was a mix of peat, redeposited subsoil and occasional burnt stone. The deposits may be associated with a vernacular structure (A020/061) that was located 2m to the east of the site.
