Excavation was undertaken on this site from 31 May to 7 June 2006. The site was newly identified during centreline testing (A020/003) and was fully excavated in advance of the construction of the N5 Charlestown bypass. The circular pit was located on the north-facing slope of a gentle east–west-orientated ridge at an altitude of 109m OD. To the north and east lay low-lying marshy ground. The pit measured 1.08m north–south by 1.12m by 0.22m deep. There was one fill, a loose dark-brown silty clay with frequent inclusions of burnt and unburnt stones. It may be associated with a vernacular house c. 20m to the east (A020/067).
