Excavation was undertaken on this feature on 17–20 October 2005. The site was newly identified during centreline testing (A020/003) and was fully excavated in advance of the construction of the N5 Charlestown bypass. The spread was located at an altitude of 106.44m OD and was 24m west and 11m south of A020/043 (see No. 1427, Excavations 2006). It was a small irregular-shaped spread that consisted of fire-cracked stones in charcoal-rich silty clay. The spread measured 3.8m east–west by 2.6m by 0.18m thick and it lay on the natural subsoil. No other archaeological features were identified associated with the spread.
