Excavation was undertaken on this feature on 21–25 October 2005. The site was newly identified during centreline testing (A020/003) and was fully excavated in advance of the construction of the N5 Charlestown bypass. The spread was located at an altitude of 106.44m OD and lay 24m west and 7m south of A020/042 (see No. 1426, Excavations 2006). It was an irregular-shaped spread of fire-cracked stones in a silty clay matrix. The spread measured 4.25m east–west by 3.6m by 0.05–0.16m thick and rested on the natural subsoil. No other archaeological features were identified in this area.
