Excavation took place on this site on 2–4 May 2006. It was newly identified during the centreline testing (A020/003) and was fully excavated in advance of the construction of the N5 Charlestown bypass. It lay c. 2.5m east of the fulacht fiadh A020/020 (see No. 1416, Excavations 2006) and 3m west of A020/018 (see No. 1414, Excavations 2006), at an altitude of 112m OD. The spread was a rough kidney shape in plan and consisted of two deposits. The upper layer measured 3.8m east–west by 1.2–3.4m by 0.06m thick and was a moderately compact black silty gritty clay with inclusions of fire-cracked stones and charcoal. The lower deposit measured 4.8m east–west by 2m by 0.14–0.04m thick and was a moderately loose black silty clay with inclusions of fire-cracked stones. The upper deposit was heavily disturbed by root activity from a forestry plantation. No other features of archaeological significance were identified.
