This site was revealed during monitoring of topsoil-stripping (see AD19, Excavations 2006, 06E0142) along the route of a gas pipeline from the existing BGE facilities in Gormanstown, Co. Meath, to an interconnecting point with the north–west pipeline to the north of Belfast at Ballyalbanagh, Co. Antrim.
The site was identified as a dark area of stained soil and decayed stone extending over an area of 16m by 8m at the base of a hill. An area of 25m by 25m was cleaned back manually. The deposit was found to be c. 0.1m thick and of natural or agricultural origin. No features of archaeological significance and no finds were recovered from this site.
