New hard landscaping and renewal of services was planned for the whole of this important road, a part of the medieval townscape (LH024–041). Monitoring of all groundworks was undertaken, but, although occasional fragments of limestone and/or brick foundations were uncovered, no coherent pattern was observed because, generally, the new works remained within the footprint of old service trenches. No finds of medieval origin were noted during the monitoring exercise.
