Testing was conducted at Area 61 in advance of construction works on the south–north gas pipeline on 9 January 2006. Testing was based on the results of the EIS carried out in 2004. Two trenches measuring 30m by 1.6m were excavated using a mechanical excavator fitted with a 1.6m-wide ditching bucket. Nothing of archaeological significance was discovered in either of the trenches.
