Planning permission was granted to construct a two-storey dwelling house on a site at Sean O’Carroll Street, formerly known as Lambs Lane. Lambs Lane leads eastwards from the junction with Market Street, the main north–south thoroughfare, towards Cappock’s Gate, one of the gates in the town wall, a fragment of which survives. An archaeological assessment was required before building work commenced. Four trenches tested the footprint of the proposed house. No archaeological features were exposed in any of the trenches and no archaeological artefacts were recovered.
