Monitoring was carried out at the rear of the Greville Arms Hotel, Main Street, Granard, Co. Longford, in December 2006. The proposed development entailed the construction of a mixed-use development comprised of two blocks. Block A consists of two retail units and four two-storey duplex units with sunroom. Block B comprises a four-storey building containing ten apartments.
Monitoring did not record the presence of any archaeological material in the development zone. It recorded a relatively uniform stratigraphy, which appeared to indicate that much of the area was composed of made-up artificially introduced ground.
