Testing was undertaken in advance of the construction of two semi-detached houses and associated site works located to the rear of properties fronting onto Shears Street in Castlecourt, Kilmallock. The stratigraphy of the two trenches excavated consisted of a 0.5m depth of a topsoil and silty clay layer overlying the natural clay subsoil. Nothing of an archaeological nature was discovered during the test-trenching.
