Testing was undertaken in advance of the construction of fifteen apartments, entrance and associated site works. The site was located on the east side of the River Maigue to the rear of properties fronting on to Bridge Street and was within the zone of potential for the historic town of Croom. Trenches were excavated to an average depth of 1m, where a grey riverine clay was noted. The stratigraphy suggested that the area had been infilled in the past, possibly to alleviate flooding.
