The proposed site for a house was tested prior to development. The site was located in Caherconlish townland within the zone of constraint for an earthwork adjacent to Caherconlish Castle, later the site of Caherconlish House, which was demolished in the late 1800s. No aboveground archaeology was visible and the site had been planted with trees from the time of Caherconlish House. Four test-trenches were opened in the footprint of the house foundations, entranceway and percolation area. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered.
