Monitoring of topsoil-stripping was undertaken during upgrading works at a water treatment site in Bulgaden Eady townland. The impacted area is located 75m south-east of Bulgaden Castle (LI040–093), which is located in a field on the opposite side of the road bounding the north end of the water treatment site. A national school has been built in the area between the road and castle and this obscures the view of the castle from the water treatment site. The upgrading works at Bulgaden Eady involved removing the topsoil layer to the level of the undisturbed natural subsoil over an area measuring 50m north–south by 5m wide. This stripped area extended from the road to the north of the water treatment site to a water pump in a pasture field to the south. No archaeological features or finds were uncovered during monitoring at this site.
