A programme of archaeological excavations was undertaken as part of the N4 Dromod Roosky bypass at the request of Leitrim County Council. In total, 25 potential archaeological sites were identified during centreline testing as part of the advance archaeological investigation (see No. 1214, Excavations 2006, 05E0983).
Four sites were identified within Moher 4. Sites 1 and 4 were non-archaeological. Site 2 consisted of two pits. One was shallow, subcircular, 0.6m in diameter, with a shallow profile of 0.15m deep. It contained a post-hole. A second subrectangular pit was located beside it. This had a U-shaped profile and contained charcoal and a piece of unworked flint. Site 3 consisted of two shallow furrows running parallel to each other and a subrectangular pit. There were no finds associated with this.
