The site was excavated in February 2006 as part of the programme of resolution of archaeological sites on the route of the proposed M7 Portlaoise to Castletown/M8 Portlaoise to Cullahill motorway scheme. It was located 50m to the east of a fulacht fiadh at Curragh 2 and 80m north-east of a Bronze Age enclosure at Tintore 2 (see No. 1191, Excavations 2006).

The site was a small fulacht fiadh comprising three thin spreads of burnt stone, beneath which were two troughs and a number of associated stake-holes. One trough, C15, was oval in plan and measured 2m by 1.2m and 0.3m deep. The second, C9, was rectangular in plan and measured 2m by 1.2m and 0.3m deep. The fills of both included a high content of burnt stone. Trough C9 had a row of five stake-holes along its base on the western side, suggesting a possible lining, and several others on the surface immediately to the east, suggesting the presence of a ‘screen’.
