This site was excavated in March 2006 as part of the programme of resolution of archaeological sites on the route of the proposed M7 Portlaoise to Castletown/M8 Portlaoise to Cullahill motorway scheme. The work was carried out on behalf of Laois County Council and the National Roads Authority.
The site consisted of a penannular structure measuring 7.25m by 6.75m by 0.4m in depth. It was badly truncated by modern disturbance and furrows. It was filled with layers of silty clay, charcoal-rich silt, charcoal and cremated bone, and two concentrations of cremated bone. The first concentration of cremated bone was found in the west and had a width of 1m and a depth of 0.04m. The second, in the east of the penannular structure, measured 1m by 0.6m by 0.04m.
Samples from this site are currently undergoing analysis.
