This site was excavated in April 2006 as part of the programme of resolution of archaeological sites on the route of the proposed M7 Portlaoise to Castletown/M8 Portlaoise to Cullahill motorway scheme. The work was carried out on behalf of Laois County Council and the National Roads Authority.
This site consisted of a penannular structure. It had an external diameter of 3.95m, internal diameter of 2.53m and a maximum depth of 0.31m. It was filled with a silty clay layer and a charcoal-rich layer, which contained a piece of slag and fragments of burnt bone. A single stake-hole was cut into the south of the penannular structure. Samples and finds from this site are currently undergoing analysis.
