Planning permission was granted for the erection of a private dwelling at Crubeen, Ballyroan, Co. Laois. The proposed development is located marginally inside the zone of archaeological potential surrounding LA024–007, which lies to the south across an untarred trackway. The site is listed as an enclosure (site of) and is marked on the 1841 and 1909 6-inch OS maps. No visible trace remains. The monument is located on a south-facing slope and is likely to be a ringfort.
A total of seven trenches were excavated in the area of the proposed dwelling and septic tank/
percolation areas. Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded.
