The planning authority requested as further information that an archaeological impact assessment be carried out on a proposed development site where it was proposed to demolish a semi-derelict post-medieval mill and a late19th/early 20th-century garda barracks as part of the development.

The assessment was to include a test excavation and a survey of the buildings. The test-trenches showed the original ground level before the millrace was created and the excavated material spread over part of the site. Little else of significance was present in the trenches, but a series of fine drawings by Phelim Manning recorded sections, plans and elevations of the mill and barracks buildings.
