Kilkenny County Council requested an archaeological assessment of a proposed single-house development which was positioned within the area of constraint of KK022–011, ecclesiastical remains at Kilbraghan, Callan. A church, graveyard and enclosure were noted here by the Archaeological Survey of Ireland, but no remains are visible aboveground. Human remains have occasionally been noted during ploughing in the vicinity. Two test-trenches were excavated within the development footprint. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted. It is expected that further monitoring will take place at the site in 2007.
