The construction works for a childcare and resource centre at Garrynamann, Kells, were monitored. The site lay within the zone of archaeological potential identified by the Urban Archaeology Survey of County Kilkenny and adjacent to Kells motte and bailey, a national monument. The proposed development site lay immediately adjacent to and south of the confines of the national monument. Testing at the site in 2003 (Excavations 2003, No. 1005) uncovered nothing of archaeological significance within the proposed development area. This also proved to be the case when the site was monitored.
