Testing at this site was undertaken in response to a request from the DoEHLG in advance of a planning decision. A series of trenches were opened up in areas of anomalies identified from a geophysical survey of the site. The line of the town wall appears to have been identified, along with more recent metalled surfaces and activity associated with post-medieval occupation of the site.
