This bog was surveyed as part of the 2006 Peatland Survey, which concentrated on Bord na Móna’s (BnM) Littleton group of bogs. Baunmore Bog is located 3km west of Urlingford and measures 616ha in size. It straddles counties Kilkenny and Tipperary. Five sites were recorded, comprising a single plank trackway dated to AD753±9, two small trackway sites and two sightings of archaeological wood. A stray find of bog butter was also reported to the survey team by BnM, which was collected and transferred to the National Museum of Ireland.
