The site was excavated as part of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford scheme: Kilcullen to Powerstown. A series of eleven circular pits, with some evidence of a possible windbreak-type structure to the west, were excavated. The pits were aligned in a north–south orientation and produced a worked flint assemblage of over 120 pieces, consisting of scrapers, flakes and debitage. One basal sherd of prehistoric pottery was recovered from one of the pits. The site suggests a temporary settlement, possibly for flint working, as no evidence for a substantial structure or hearth or other long-term occupational deposits were found.
