Monitoring was carried out on Phase 1 of a residential development at Jigginstown, Naas, Co. Kildare, between 25 January and 1 February 2006. The work was undertaken in advance of the construction of 266 houses and associated services.
The development is south of Jigginstown archaeological complex, KD019–032–034. Further to a programme of testing (Excavations 2004, No. 827), and in light of the proximity of the development to the archaeological complex, it was recommended that all topsoil-stripping be monitored. A uniform stratigraphy was noted throughout the stripping area. There was no trace of archaeological features or material in the development area of Phase 1.
