Testing was undertaken at the site of a single house development at Castledillon Lower, Straffan. The development area is located adjacent to the site of a castle (tower-house?), a portion of which was visible until the early 20th century. There are now no surface traces of the site, which is believed to have been covered with agricultural buildings. Six trenches were excavated within the proposed residential plot and nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered.
