This excavation was the resolution of a feature that was discovered during testing by Cóilín Ó Drisceoil (see No. 925, Excavations 2006). A red-brick feature that was thought to be a tanning pit was further examined to reveal more bricks and a series of pipes and manholes along with a box drain.
The brick feature is of relatively recent origin and has been reinterpreted as most probably being the remains of a milking parlour/dairy that was in use in living memory.
