The excavation of test-trenches at Shronedarragh, Barraduff, did not uncover any features of archaeological origin. Bog growth on the site may be from any period from the Bronze Age to the early historic period or later. The underlying marl suggests that part of the development site was under shallow water, possibly impounded due to impervious soil, and the generation of bog was probably a combination of wet climate and poor drainage. No material of archaeological origin was recovered from the test-trenches.
