Test-trenching on the N21 Castleisland bypass road improvement scheme at the site of KE039–027 confirmed the presence of an enclosure defined by a bank and ditch with an internal diameter of c. 35m (probably an Early Christian ringfort). Part of the bank and ditch are visible outside the CPO, but within the road-take there is almost no aboveground evidence of the monument. One internal feature, a possible hearth, was identified and a number of pits were located outside the enclosure. Approximately one-third of the enclosure lies within the road-take.
