Pre-development testing was undertaken in August 2006 in compliance with a condition of planning permission. The development involved the construction of a single dwelling house and associated services at Moycola, Co. Galway. The development site is located c. 150m from Moycola Castle (GA104–215). Two trenches were mechanically excavated in the course of testing. The stratigraphy encountered consisted of sod and topsoil overlying a sandy subsoil which overlay a natural daub layer. No features of archaeological significance were uncovered in the course of testing.
