Pre-development testing was carried out on the site of a proposed dwelling house at Killuney, Co. Galway, on 7 July 2006. The site is located adjacent to a poorly preserved earthwork, which is cut east–west by the public road. According to local information, small wickerwork coffins and bones were uncovered when the road was cut through the hill. An excavator fitted with a wide grading bucket was deployed to open three test-trenches on the footprint of the proposed development. The topsoil varied from 0.25 to 0.45m in thickness and overlay fine sandy subsoil. No archaeological material was uncovered.
