Test-trenching was carried out in advance of development in the townland of Fiddaun, Gort, Co. Galway. The development lies within the zone of potential for a ringfort and souterrain (GA128–047(01, 02)). Nine trenches were dug. The trenches, which varied in length from 6 to 25m, were dug to the level of the parent material. A linear feature was discovered in Trenches 5 and 9. This feature, which was oriented east–west, was about 10m in length and 2m in maximum width. The antiquity of this feature is unknown.
