Investigations were carried out at a site adjacent to GA042–034, a late 19th- or early 20th-century lookout tower. While the proposed development would not interfere directly with the monument, the hilltop location suggested that unknown subsurface remains might be impacted on by excavations for house foundations. The work took place on 17 January 2006. Test-trenching complemented by an aerial survey revealed no evidence that the proposed development will interfere with any of the known surface features visible in the environs of the site. Nothing of archaeological value was uncovered during the test excavations.
