Test-trenching was carried out at the site of a proposed development at Enniskillen Road, Brookeborough (Aghalun townland), Co. Fermanagh, on 3–6 July 2006. All mechanical ground breaking was conducted by means of a mechanical excavator furnished with a toothless, flat-bottomed ditching bucket. Overlying peat formation deposits measured on average a depth of 2m and their removal revealed natural subsoil. No archaeological deposits were identified during archaeological test-trenching at the site.
