A test excavation was conducted at Townparks and Milverton, Skerries, Co. Dublin, from 30 August to 1 September 2006. The site is located immediately south of Skerries village. A geophysical survey of the lands revealed a number of potential archaeological anomalies, including a possible enclosure ditch. Twenty-one test-trenches were excavated across these anomalies. Four of these trenches revealed features of archaeological potential. Three possible ditches and an area of burning were revealed in Trench 1. A possible boundary ditch was uncovered in Trench 6. Linear features were also identified in Trenches 8 and 9; these may in fact be two parts of the same boundary ditch. It was recommended that further work should be conducted in these areas to determine the function of and, if possible, a date for these features.
