Monitoring of the stripping of topsoil in advance of the construction of a pavilion (Area 1) and associated carpark (Area 2) was conducted on 10–13 July 2006. The site was located within the demesne of Malahide Castle but was outside the zone of archaeological potential for the castle (DU012–030). Five linear field drains and a late post-medieval garden bed wall were identified in Area 1, along with a shell midden probably associated with the late 19th-century local oyster-fishing trade. Two linear furrows, a linear drain and a burnt feature were identified in Area 2. None of the features revealed were of archaeological significance.
