It was originally proposed to carry out testing at 54 Dawson Street, to the rear of the existing backfilled cellar. However, monitoring during the removal of the concrete slab that covered a small area to the rear of the building revealed that the concrete had been laid directly on to natural subsoils. This area was found to be devoid of any archaeological features and confirmed that the backfilled cellar (a feature of the original demolished Georgian building) had been excavated through the natural subsoils. Any features of archaeological significance would have been removed during the excavation of the original cellar.

A single post-medieval feature was revealed during monitoring of the removal of the concrete slab. This was a brick-lined circular well or water sump, with a diameter of 1.3m and a depth of 0.66m, which had been partially truncated by the construction of a rear wall associated with the modern building now occupying 54 Dawson Street. No other archaeological features were revealed during monitoring.
