Permission was granted to refurbish a retail structure which fronts onto Church Street. A single-storey derelict shed to the rear of the site was demolished and replaced by a three-storey block, comprising a retail extension on the ground floor and commercial use for subsequent floors.
No. 122 Church Street functioned as a retail business since at least 1846, when it operated as a general seed merchant supplier. In the following years it traded as a bakery, a grocery, tea, wine and spirits merchants, was vacant in 1867 and listed as a tenement in the 1920s. In 1923 it traded as F. Sutton’s pork butcher shop, which changed ownership in 1925 to John Quinn, who continued in the same trade until 2004. The premises have since been vacant.
There was no evidence for any significant archaeological deposits.
