Trial-testing took place at No. 1 Victoria Terrace, Dalkey Avenue, Dalkey, Co. Dublin, in advance of a proposed extension to a residential dwelling. The site is located to the south-west of Dalkey village, to the rear of a house on Victoria Terrace. The house is located within the RMP constraint of Dalkey village (DU023–023).
Testing commenced at the site on 11 February. The test-trench was hand dug through the centre of the development area, which measured 7m in length by 1m in width. One structural feature was found, a north–south-orientated wall measuring 0.29m wide and 0.72m tall. The wall was built in three courses of rough-hewn—generally subrectangular—limestone. The wall was located 0.28m beneath the surface.
