Trial-trenching was undertaken at the site of a proposed expansion of a wastewater treatment facility at 24 Shore Road, Strangford. The proposed development entails the upgrading, refurbishment and replacement of the current treatment works and ancillary building. Prior to testing, the site was an undeveloped greenfield area. A total of eleven trial-trenches were excavated across the area of the proposed development, all within the area that would be disturbed. All trenches were mechanically excavated to subsoil. A single pit, circular in plan, measuring 1m wide by 0.3m deep, was found. Upon investigation, this pit proved to be a post-medieval feature. There were no other archaeological deposits located within the development.
